Parent/Teacher Conferences
Conferences are coming up very soon.
November 16- Wednesday- 4:00- 7:00
November 17- Thursday- 8:00- 11:30, 12:30- 4:00, 4:30-7:00
4th and 5th graders please see parent square conference signups from your classroom teachers.
6th- 8th grade – drop-in during the hours listed.
We will be conducting a climate survey during conferences, please plan on participating in the survey.
We have multiple days off during November.
There will be no school on 11/10 & 11, 17&18, 24& 25.

Superintendent’s message: Attendance remains key to student success
Dear GAPS families,
As we settle into the school year, the district will be focusing on a foundational building block for our students’ success: regular attendance. We have some catching up to do academically, and having students regularly attend school is critical to closing the learning gap. By having your child in school each day, we can continue to make progress toward academic success.
Research shows missing just two days of school each month – whether excused or unexcused absences – can have a significant impact on students’ ability to master subjects such as math and reading at the same level as their classmates. Learning is a progressive activity which builds on what teachers have discussed the previous day. Despite our best efforts during the pandemic, we found at-home reading and learning is not as effective in comparison to in-person classwork. We need your child at school every day.
As a district, we will be celebrating attendance in our schools with positive reinforcement and recognition. This year, you will also see reminder messages regarding the importance of attending school on social media, ParentSquare, and from your school. Some things you can do at home to help support your child:
- Establish bedtime and morning routines, including setting an alarm clock in the morning.
- Have your child eat a healthy breakfast so they come to school prepared to learn.
- If possible, schedule medical and dental appointments outside of school hours.
- Reinforce the importance of showing up to school every day. Attendance is an important life skill, which will help them later in life when they enter the workforce.
Our teachers, staff, and administrators are dedicated to your student’s continued success and growth. However, as parents and guardians, you hold the most influence with your children, and we seek your support to encourage student attendance this year. Thank you for all you do to support your child’s academic success and well-being.

Estimadas familias de GAPS:
A medida que nos asentamos en el año escolar, el distrito se centrará en un elemento fundamental para el éxito de nuestros estudiantes: la asistencia regular. Tenemos que ponernos al día académicamente, y hacer que los estudiantes asistan regularmente a la escuela, es fundamental para cerrar la brecha de aprendizaje. Al tener a su hijo/a en la escuela todos los días, podemos continuar progresando hacia el éxito académico.
Las investigaciones muestran que faltar solo dos días a la escuela cada mes, ya sean ausencias justificadas o injustificadas, puede tener un impacto significativo en la capacidad de los estudiantes para dominar materias como matemáticas y lectura, al mismo nivel que sus compañeros de clase. El aprendizaje es una actividad progresiva que se basa en lo que los maestros han presentado el día anterior. A pesar de nuestros mejores esfuerzos durante la pandemia, descubrimos que la lectura y el aprendizaje en el hogar no son tan efectivos en comparación con el trabajo en persona en clase. Necesitamos que su hijo/a este en la escuela todos los días.
Como distrito, celebráremos la asistencia en nuestras escuelas con un reforzamiento positivo y reconocimiento. Este año, también verá mensajes de recordatorios en las redes sociales, ParentSquare y de su escuela sobre la importancia de asistir a la escuela. Algunas cosas que puede hacer en casa para ayudar a apoyar a su hijo/a son:
- Establecer rutinas para la hora de acostarse y de la mañana, incluyendo la configuración de una alarma para despertarse en la mañana.
- Hacer que su hijo/a tome un desayuno saludable para que venga a la escuela preparado para aprender.
- Si es posible, programe citas médicas y dentales fuera del horario escolar.
- Reforzar la importancia de asistir a la escuela todos los días. La asistencia es una habilidad importante para la vida, que los ayudará más adelante en la vida cuando ingresen a la fuerza laboral.
Nuestros maestros, personal y administradores, están dedicados al éxito y crecimiento continuo de su estudiante.
